ISRO (Indian space research Organisation) or भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन is India’s premier space agency allotted with the responsibility of development and maintenance of India’s space assets. The Indian space research Organization (ISRO) made a record with its 20 successful satellite launch in orbit. it’s a very proud moment for India as its biggest space mission got monumental accomplishment. The workhorse PSLV-C34 launched from the spaceport Satish Dhawan Centre in Shriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. ISRO is also working on a human spaceflight Program to undertake a human spaceflight mission to carry a crew of 2 to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and come back them safely to a predefined destination on earth.
To accomplish this feat, ISRO is developing ISRO Orbital Vehicle capable of carrying 3 astronauts for seven days in a near earth orbit.
ISRO will set up an astronaut training centre in Bangalore to organize personnel for flights on board the crewed vehicle. the center will use simulation facilities to train the chosen astronauts in rescue and recovery operations and survival in zero gravity, and can undertake studies of the radiation environment of space.
10 FACTS ABOUT ISRO EVERY INDIAN MUST PROUD :-
The first rocket launched by India was transported on an old jeep and a faulty crane!
This story precedes ISRO by six years, as India launched its 1st rocket from Thumba, Trivandrum. The ‘jugaad’ exhibited even in those days would be a hallmark of the Indian space program,. Whole recent stats of the frugality of the Mangalyaan mission being spoken about round the world!
ISRO was formed on Independence Day, 1969.
It was established by Vikram Sarabhai, thought-about to be the father of India’s space program. He said: “There are some who question the relevance of space activities in a developing nation. To us, there’s no ambiguity of purpose. We don’t have the fantasy of competitive with the economically advanced nations in the exploration of the moon or the planets or manned space-flight. However we are convinced that if we are to play a meaningful role nationally and within the community of nations. We should be second to none in the application of advanced technologies to the real issues of man and society.”
ISRO’s Mars mission is that the most cost-effective so far, simply 450 crore i.e Rs 12 per kilometer, comparable to auto fare.
In 2008-09, the Indian space and research Organisation successfully launched a lunar orbiter, Chandrayaan-1, that discovered proof of water on the moon. Mangalyaan developed from technology tested throughout the Chandrayaan mission.
They don’t purchase stuff. They build it!
When Indian scientists asked for the methodologies and engineering help from United States for our Mars mission long back, they refused. We didn’t hand over. They tried hard and developed new methodology and engineering indigenously and created this historical achievement with less expensive cost.
Fun fact : ISRO has a elder cousin.
Like the formation of the nation itself, Pakistan started their space and upper Atmosphere commission (SUPARCO) quite before that of India. SUPARCO were launched in 1961 however ISRO was started in 1969. Whereas ISRO has already launched 77 satellites till date, SUPARCO could only send 2 which too with the help by foreign nations. ?
Manned missions can happen soon!
ISRO is working on a manned mission – a crew of 2. They’re developing an orbital vehicle additionally as setting up a training center in Bangalore to train astronauts. Do not hold your breath, though, this is likely to happen solely post 2017.
Meet ANTRIX, the corporate arm of ISRO.
Antrix deals with the commercialization of space products, consultancy and technology transfer developed by the ISRO. It’s clientele worldwide – Europe, Middle East and SE Asia.
Guess who are on the board of directors of Antrix!
Apart from bigwigs from ISRO and different related space bodies, 2 of India’s biggest industrialists – Ratan Tata and Jamshyd Godrej – are on the board.
India (ISRO) is that the only one country who has reached to the MARS in his 1st attempt!
And that also in just 400 crores. United States failed in their 1st 5 tries. Soviet Union unsuccessful in their 1st 8 attempts. China & Russia conjointly failed in their 1st attempt.
Many ISRO scientists are single (and have a sense of humour!)
Gems like this discovered during a Reddit AMA (Ask me Anything) conducted 8 months ago. Hence that more goes to prove that this is one among the coolest government bodies there’s in the country.
Today, the nation stands as one the applaud the magnificent feat by the Indian space research Organization – of sending the Mars orbiter successfully to the Mars. In doing thus, India became the 1st country to do thus successfully on its first try, which too at a cost. Since as has been thrown about on social media many times less than the budget of the movie Gravity.
